OUR COMMUNITY, OUR WATER: City Receives Grant Money to
Build Asset Management System
Stanton, Michigan, OCT. 9, 2019 – In 2016, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s Stormwater, Asset Management, and Wastewater (SAW) Program kicked off. This program provides a 100% reimbursement of the cost to do a complete inventory and condition assessment of our sanitary sewer and storm sewer system. Our community was a recipient of grant money totaling $1,020,000 over a three-year period. We will use the data collected to help us better predict and plan for repairs and replacements in our systems.
Asset management ensures future affordability of these vital systems, and greatly reduces the amount of emergency pipe failures and expenses over time.
The City of Stanton is on track for better planning and more efficient, effective use of the money we invest in our community. Keep an eye out for future updates on our Asset Management System and remember… it’s our community, our water, and our money, let’s make it all count.
