As a reminder, all summer decorations, flowerpots, and urns must be removed from graves at Forest Hill Cemetery by November 1 to allow for fall cleanup. Any summer decorations remaining after this date may be considered abandoned and removed by the City Sexton.
Per the City’s cemetery ordinance, certain items are not permitted within the cemetery, including unauthorized ornaments, statues, benches, bricks, stones, landscaping, and other personal items or structures. Prohibited items will also be removed after November 1 as part of the cemetery’s fall cleanup.
Items that lawfully existed in the cemetery before the ordinance was adopted on April 10, 2018, may be permitted to remain, provided they do not pose a safety hazard. However, existing items that have become broken, damaged, or unsightly due to age or neglect may also be removed at the discretion of the City Sexton.
