In accordance with its groundwater discharge permit and Part 31, Section 324.3112a of the NREPA, the City of Stanton is reporting a discharge of (untreated/partially treated) sanitary sewage to the ground in the vicinity of 300 S. Mill Street. The discharge also reached a small storm drainage creek that eventually leads to the West Branch Fish Creek. A discharge of an unknown quantity occurred within an 11 hour time frame between Saturday evening April 14, 2024, and Sunday morning April 15, 2024. The discharge was a result of a mechanical failure at the sanitary sewage lift station. The discharge ceased on April 15, 2024, and repairs have been made.
